Atlanta Down Town Loft Living

This client was a single guy with a firm budget, and we embraced the opportunity to create a contemporary bachelor pad that would cater to his lifestyle and allow him to comfortably entertain his friends. 

Our first task was to open up the space and make it feel as large as possible. To accomplish this we took down the existing half wall upstairs and my custom metal worker created a banister to match the iron staircase railing. Painting the ceilings black also helped the space feel larger.

We used a black and white scheme with pops of color to brighten it up. We painted all of the walls, added all new lighting, completely remodeled the bedroom, bathroom and kitchen to give the loft a completely new feel. 

In the bedroom we chose to use faux wood on the back wall to open it up and make it feel less cave-like. We also installed new carpet to warm up the room. On the bedroom wall we were able to incorporate tapestries and paintings that he has collected on his many travels, to serve as a nice reminder of his journeys around the world. 

We started with an old and outdated loft but with the addition of color, textures, and the knocking down of some wall space we were able to give this old space new life.

Farmhouse Country Custom Home

This custom farmhouse country home build was fully designed and built on 50 acres of hunting land. This full service design masterpiece is close to my heart because I personally went through the initial plans and drawings to make custom accommodations to be fully functional and engaging for the homeowners. Updates like changing the placement of the house to take into account the sun rising, to balancing out the floor plans allowed me to fully collaborate with my client. This house shows so many custom farmhouse details like the custom backsplash, farmhouse sink and bathroom tile. I look forward to showcasing the custom furniture and accessories.

Living Life to the Fullest

The homeowners hired Mary Jo at the right time as they were finalizing details with their builder. The couple was so thankful for her design direction right off the bat. She helped to make the design decisions and selected the kitchen backsplash, light fixtures and floor plans. This was a crucial time to help alleviate unneeded purchases from the builder and to help save on costly mistakes.

The wife’s aesthetic includes a traditional design with lots of color, while the husband likes a contemporary style with neutral tones. Mary Jo combined both styles to create a harmonious home. 

The kitchen highlight’s Mary Jo’s knack for specific details like the backsplash tile, furniture selection for the barstools, light fixtures and paint color.

The great room encompasses the homeowner’s love for a rich elegant feeling. Mary Jo hand selected the crystals, Amethyst geode and other décor so the family could continue to display their heritage and family background. The television bracket lowers and swivels so the view from the sofa is ergonomic. 

Both the dining room and keeping room have hand selected light fixtures, drapery, and furnishings. The goal was to combine both styles of neutral and color to create elegant living spaces.

Chosen Interiors transforms this once traditional space to an updated Floridian centerpiece of the house.  Utilizing the bones, but updating the paint , draperies, artwork and furnishing.  Each decision was made to update and uplift the space into modern day home design trends.  With the final touch pulling the space together being the gold accents in the Edison exposed chandelier.

Farmhouse Comfortable Cozy look (Fixer Upper Look)

This home had great bones; we were brought in to give the family room and dining room an update. We provided all of the furniture and accessories, we redesigned the bookshelf, we had carpentry work completed, and took care of the painting and electrical as well. The finished rooms have a cozy feel with some farmhouse flare.

This couple was from New Orleans, looking to transform this room into a happy space that would make them feel at home. She loves color, so we incorporated reds, golds, greens, and purples in the drapes, pillows and other accessories.

We completed minor renovations including can lighting installation, new floors, custom paint finishes, and beautiful built-ins on either side of the fireplace. We completely furnished and accessorized this room including custom drapery.

Mary Jo created a true farmhouse country look for this couple’s living room. Her challenge was incorporating the outdated fireplace and turn the room into a traditional farmhouse room. She created all custom drapery, furniture rugs and throws to bring their room into the 21st century farmhouse style. The pops of color tie in with the fireplace. The stand out piece is the wall clock Mary Jo designed, painted and created for the family home.

This house had great bones and beautiful architecture. Coming into this we were able to design and decorate around the architecture that was already there to create a very cozy and comfortable space. To accomplish this look we used a mostly neutral color scheme with pops of color to bring it to life. This couple even incorporated a space for their pet to feel at home in their living room, by adding a crate below the end table so that he can be a part of the family without disrupting the flow of the space.

For this client we took care of everything from the lighting to the paint, to all of the furniture and accessories for 3 different rooms of his condo. The result was this contemporary bachelor pad with blue and grey accents.

This custom porch started as an empty space and Mary Jo designed and decorated the porch from the ground up. This custom build is made of solid cedar wood. The homeowner wanted a relaxing outdoor space to entertain her friends and family. The outdoor dining table has a built in fire pit for the cool fall weather and a built in ceiling fan for the warm summers. Her client couldn’t have been more satisfied with the fully custom cedar porch.

Comfy, Casual Farmhouse Meets Contemporary

This client came to us for a completely remodeled master suite. This couple had two different style preferences, one liked the farmhouse look while the other enjoyed a more transitional style. We decided to go with a predominantly farmhouse feel in the bedroom, which we carried through to the bathroom with elements like the white painted wainscoting and the freestanding bath tub. We incorporated transitional style in the new shower with recessed shelving and a mosaic tile stripe.

This was an unfinished basement that we transformed into the ultimate man cave with custom carpentry and woodwork, drywall ceilings, lighting, surround sound audio, and smart home automation. New flooring, fresh paint, some furniture, and all new accessories finished this comfortable space. 

French Country Retreat

This European inspired bedroom is for a client that we've had for many years. We have redesigned her home, one room at a time, allowing us to tune into each individual space and ensure that every detail is perfect. 

This beautiful master bedroom was designed to feel like a European getaway. The small scale furniture, elaborate wallpaper, and antique headboard contribute to the French Country theme. The headboard is an antique fan window taken from a building in the early 1900's; it is an example of a piece that took time to find but was entirely worth the wait because of what it adds to the room. 

The damask wallpaper is French inspired with metallic undertones that provide a nice glow and color. We decided not to wallpaper the entire room because we wanted the bed wall to be the focal point and the rest to be light, airy, and complimentary. 

Custom drapery and furniture complete this quaint French country retreat.



Modern Rustic Living Space

The bones were already great in this home, we just brought in furniture and accessories to complete the space. She had a more traditional style, while he preferred a contemporary look. We married those styles together to accomplish a cohesive, inviting space. 

We brought in all leather furniture because it added to the contemporary style and is easy to care for which was very important to these dog owners. 

Rustic elements such as the coffee table and wall clock contributed to the traditional style of the room, and meshed well with the original wood beams.

Mary Jo of Chosen Interiors worked with a husband and wife who needed a home away from home as they traveled to the big city. After purchasing their condo, Mary Jo created a custom master bedroom that combined the husband’s artsy style with the wife’s traditional farmhouse look. Mary Jo created custom furniture for storage, drapery, accessories and paint coloring. All the bedding, shades, drapery and pillows are designed and created to create a cohesive oasis.

The master bathroom was redesigned to incorporate the traditional farmhouse country feel with a hint of industrial accents. Mary Jo created well-designed, functional and clean space.

This full gut renovation started with replacing all the flooring with hard wood floors. Mary Jo redesigned the entire space by taking out the wall between the dining room and kitchen to create an updated open floor plan. This helped to eliminate the 1980s closed off space in the downstairs. The family really liked the cedar beams, not only for support, but for the design and element of character. Since the wife is of shorter stature, May Jo designed a custom counter top height so she can still bake in comfort. To accommodate the husband’s tall height, Mary Jo created a higher elevation for the bar and additional storage. The splash of color in the mosaic back splash ties in the orange, red and green hews in other areas of the home. This home was uniquely designed for this couple.

Mary Jo has had the pleasure of designing multiple spaces in this home. The owner called Mary Jo when they were in need of a space for her mother. The challenge with this space was designing around the 1980s wool carpet. She created a relaxing space through the blue, green and neutral colors. The room is true to the mother’s old home with some of her existing pieces, just reupholstered to for an updated look. The custom bedding, drapery, artwork and décor were hand selected & designed to enhance the relaxing bedroom suite.

Chosen Interiors transformed this space through a full redecorating.  The challenged in this project lay in the merriment of a couples conflicting styles; modern vs. traditional. By working around the bare bones of the house to exposed the wood, through the use of contemporary, earth tone pieces of furniture tranquility was achieved in this rustic-modern living space.

Traditional Farmhouse Guest Suite

This guest suite’s design started with the custom art piece. This inspiration combines the owner’s love of southern farmhouse with a pop of color. The dresser, antique nightstand and chair were original pieces from the owner’s grandparents. Mary Jo creatively re-styled and painted these pieces to fit in the guest suite. The bedroom accents and dog painting continues to pull in the pops of color to warm up the room.

The custom bathroom was remodeled to recreate the antique farmhouse style.  Everything from the custom counter tops, to the mirrors and light fixtures were either all hand picked or created through Chosen Interiors.

For this client we created and installed an upholstered panel wall, paint, furniture and accessories. This shows a space where we incorporated warm and cool for a contemporary but inviting look.

This client inherited her parent’s mid century antique wood furniture from the 1950s. Since all the wood was in pristine condition, Mary Jo created a new color design for the entire space. She updated the seat cushions to the coral pink and blue hews. All the throw pillows, sofa, artwork and drapes were custom made to tie back into the home. This home now encompasses the mid century furniture with an updated feel.

Mary Jo’s client wanted an updated feminine feel to her cozy home. Her favorite color, purple, was the inspiration for the custom bedding, drapery and art selection. Mary Jo selected new furniture, accessories and light fixtures to create the cottage feel.

This breakfast nook features an amazing view of their backyard and pool, and is the perfect spot to sit and enjoy coffee in the morning. The custom chandelier and drapery add to the French Country theme in the home.

The homeowners wanted to turn their open space into a beach style guest bedroom. Mary Jo designed this room from the bottom up including the wood furniture, to the custom bedding, drapery and accessories. The hand picked shell artwork and décor complete the beach style design the homeowners envisioned.
